ASSOCHAM President gets global empowerment award

By A Staff Reporter

Dr Swati Piramal, ASSOCHAM President and Director, Piramal Healthcare has been conferred upon Asian Women of Achievement Award at London by HRH Princess Michael of Kent and Amanda Mackenzie, Chief Marketing Officer of Aviva.

The Asian Women of Achievement Awards - held in association with Lloyds Banking Group for the last six years and hosted by Real Business magazine - champion the vibrant contributions Asian women are making to British life across the media, arts, business, science, medicine and the voluntary sector.

Judges of the Asian Women of Achievement Awards - chaired by British Red Cross chief executive Sir Nicholas Young and with Cherie Blair as patron - said this year’s winners were some of the most outstanding individuals ever to be honoured in the programme’s 11-year history.

In 2009, Piramal made headline news after becoming the first woman in the 90-year history of the India Chambers of Commerce, ASSOCHAM, to be elected president and she immediately chose 100 women to chair the Chamber’s Sub-Committees.

In 1998, she co-founded fledgling company Nicholas Laboratories.
